It is having a sitting down all day job. The good news is that my wife suggested I play more golf! I never thought I would live to hear the words :)

Have you ever practised a sport more or less professionally? The reason I'm asking is that I come from 6+ years of Kempo (used to be around 12 stones at 5.92 feet in my prime), and after quitting I've got to 14.5 stones, and man, it hurts (mentally). But at least no one elephants with the humpbacks!

So, she wants you out of the house more? Sounds a little suspicious. :) Golf really isn't a sport though. Can you lose weight playing golf? I guess you'll have to to get into those ugly tight pants golfers wear. :)

I swore the day I left the Army would be the last day I ever did exercise. So far I have held true. But walking seven odd miles carrying a bag of clubs is as much exercise as I need.

What's so odd about golf?. [Edit] If you are on the course, I guess that's odd. ;)

It was broke, so I fixed it.

17 stone (238lbs) and only five feet six??? You must really look like Toad of Toad Hall. :-) I have just started a 600 calorie max one day/normal next day diet - I made a huge bbq last night and regret it this morning. See how it goes (I don't have the 50 lbs to lose that you plainly need to :-)).

I bought a couple of sea bass, filleted them and rolled them with my sepcial mixture. The special mixture is finely chooped chorizo, garlic, onion, mushroom, red chili and lime juice. Steamed in the oven for 15 mins and served over a salad of rocket, watercress and radichio. Deeeelish! I am on a new dirt, a Ketogenic one, and it involves no carbs. Guaranteed to lose weight, but can't stay on it for more than a few weeks. On the other hand I am looking forward to several weeks of really nice food. My wife says we are to do it together so that we can both lose the lard!

Be careful on that diet, ketosis really doesn't agree with some people. I couldn't cope without my carbs, I love bread, potatoes, pasta and rice, and breakfast cereals for that matter. Good luck though!

I forgot to ask, why one so severe? There are a lot of options in that range that don't require you to quit after a few weeks. Also, does that include alcohol?
