Money
-
I used to use MS Money (and before that Digita Home Accounts on the Amiga :) ) But when they stopped supporting it, I wrote my own app instead. I needed something that handled budgets a lot better, my app treats budgets as accounts in their own right, with the transaction categories in the 'real' account transactions deciding which budget account that transaction belongs in. Makes it really easy to see at a glance how much money is set aside for bills, saved up for things like car tax/mot, and is left to spend on groceries this week etc.
Codz plz urgentz!

I use excel for budgeting/income forecasting/current accounts/saving accounts etc. It is easy to set up cashbooks and ledgers and a couple of macros to automate payments and produce monthly and annual accounts. (This is for my personal accounting, for work we use bespoke software that allows me to tailor reports and actions for specific needs).

You are a professional accountant. Money was software for us mere mortals.

No real money, but the Microsoft software to manage it. Was someone using Money ? I have been using since 2004 and it is definitely a good piece of software. Microsoft decided to stop development and support, because more and more banks offer online services that do _almost_ the same, and that is a pity, as well as a curious decision : the advantage of Money was precisely to centralize everything nicely, and from what I have seen, no bank offers to manage the money you have in other banks. Anyway, do you think that Microsoft may release the source, so we could continue the development ? I am pretty sure a lot of people are still interested in this software. The version I used is the 2005, because this was the last one which was translated, and even if I understand english, managing a budget is easier in the native language. Does someone have experience with the latest versions ?

I used it back in the mid/late 90s. For what I used it for, I liked it.

Quickbooks is better and Intuit wouldn't crumble or sell out to Microsoft so Microsoft left the arena.
Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost
