Hey, but that's what the politicians need. There's a huge number of families below poverty line, which means there's plenty of mobile phones to be purchased and given away. Lots of money will be involved, which they will scam away!

Given it also gives them 200 free minutes, that could be useful. Provided they also issue wind-up chargers with the phone, that could help people to communicate at least on a minimum level with their richer peers. Provided of course the poor live in an area with mobile phone mast coverage...if not, they could try to sell them and that may improve their situation, albeit briefly. But with that many flooding onto the market, I suspect they won't get much for them.

I hope the phone would not be required electricity to get charged for that poor ones. :|

The US has the same brilliant policy.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.-John Q. Adams
You must accept one of two basic premises: Either we are alone in the universe, or we are not alone in the universe. And either way, the implications are staggering.-Wernher von Braun
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.-Albert Einstein
