OK. Here is goes: Ironing. I'm against it: -99) It takes time -98) It takes effort -97) It takes energy* -96) Resources are wasted as it needs special equipment* What do you gain? Flat clothes. My suggestion: stop ironing or reduce to doing it only where it prolongs clothes life (e.g. collars) etc. * These effects the environment and/or cost money, you decide which is worse according to your political inclinations.

Mate of mine loves ironing. He works away during the week, and if there isn't a big pile of ironing for him Saturday morning he can't relax for the weekend. He watches sport or listens to the radio as he plows through the week's ironing and the week's stressed go with it.

You are so against ironing, yet you post about it here. This suggests that you have probably gone through the troubles of ironing over and over while not actually having experienced any benefits. Yet you continued to iron and you might actually even continue even after posting how much you are against it. Even if you stop ironing now you've already went through probably about half of your life (if not longer) ironing clothes and appearently it took you this long to find out it doesn't really have any benefits. This actually makes me wonder if ironing clothes really is as bad as you say. If that isn't irony... :)

What makes you think that that is true either generally or specifically?

Up-curl on collars: I had a shirt which became uncomfortable when the collars turned up.

You got the wrong wife. I've trained mine to enjoy ironing so I don't have to. And, yes, I'm for it - she reads this. :)

Ironed clothes keep clean longer, which in theory uses less time, effort and energy as you don't need to clean them as often. In reality I don't use my clothes for more the a day in any case.
