I'm into it. And I'm searching for a good solution to archive my pictures (~10.000). What do you recommend? I've had a look so far at ACDSee, but it seems to overloaded and the GUI is (IMHO). Besides that, if I would ever want to set up a web-page there is no way to access the archive. Any ideas? Matthias

i'm a little biased, but i like ThumbNailer (link below). some other people like ThumbsPlus, or IrfranView. ThumbNailer is geared towards making HTML galleries. The other two will do that too, but have a 'photo database' thing going on. -c

You can archive it by WinZip, WinRar, Arj,... or to buy another disk,... SQL is OK, but maybe Oracle is another option to think about...

Well, it was he who started talking about it. Since my PC is family domain, I can't really host this kind of stuff. ;P Matthias

I've recently developed an interest in (digital) photography and have been toying with the idea of developing my own solution for archiving my photos. Due to my lack of spare time at the moment it will probably take a while to get off the ground (and might not stay in the air long when it finally does :()... but if anyone's interested in offering feature suggestions or advice I'd be delighted :) Thanks, Alex

Matthias Steinbart wrote: Any ideas? Windows Explorer and Microsoft Indexing Services. No, really. We have a big set of stock images for websites and Windows Explorer rocks, especially in Windows XP. The thumbnail and Filmstrip views are handy. You just use good old folders and logical filenames to categorise everything. If you need multiple categorisation then you can use the properties of each file. Then you index them all so you can search them in a hearbeat. Plus, if you have Windows XP, then it is all there already, no new apps.
