Please understand this. CNN does NOT reflect the true sincerity and feelings of the "typical American". We are not as stupid and paranoid as the liberal media tends to portray us. Kind regards, Tim

It's not all humans. It's just the western media that is like this since it is controlled by people who hate a particular culture/religion. You might be thinking that I believe in a conspiracy theory or something but it is true. The media is highly bias and only shows one side of the story when it comes to worldy affairs, specially CNN. The only way you can check out what's REALLY happening is turning into alternate sources. Japanese news?!?

Just when I was beginning to think there were no US/Mid-East posts today, and was about to open a bottle of beer for that! You had to spoil it, didn't you? And anyway, the media has to sell, so they have to make it sensational. Nothing to do with what people actually feel. So take a chill pill.

Dude, I know the people don't think like that. The people think different. The media doesn't represent the general public, which is exacly opposite to it's purpose. It represents the interests of the US government. My point here is that by showing stuff like that, the people will start believing in to the non-sense they are trying to sell. News is a public service, not a product, thus shalt not be sold but should be done for the public. These days, it's for money. That is why news isn't good anymore.

Ok, this whole space thing. What exactly happened again? I wanna know it all from the very beginning. I tried to read/watch news and it is already assuming that we know what happened. Thanks. :)
Columbia broke up at approx. 200,000 feet (60km). At mach 14 (I think thats the reentry speed) it doesn't take much to go wrong :( I know Columbia was an old shuttle, anyone know how may trips it had made ? Rest In Peace :rose: The tigress is here :-D

I heard a figure of 20 something. Supposedly it was designed for 100. I also heard a flight engineer say that ice hits the wings on virtually every flight, so they are dismissive of that as a cause right now. I am hearing the 'T' words again, specially on CNN. How can someone even THINK of this being terrorism. It is so damn bloodly clear that this can't be terrorism.:mad::mad: Damn Racist Media!
I think the fact that we had an Israeli on board (the first). There was enhanced security from the beginning because of this. However, it's all a bunch of crap. We shouldn't jump to conclusions and simply show love and support for the families that lost today. They'll figure out what happened in time.

This is horrible. I live in the Dallas area. I was outside this morning taking my dogs for a run when we heard the "boom." Apparently Coluimba was traveling at near MACH 17 when whatever took place. What Would Uncle Steve Do?. -Michael Martin

The shuttle was at an altitude of about 203,000 feet over north-central Texas at 9 a.m., traveling at 12,500 mph, when Mission Control lost all contact and tracking data. There have been 113 shuttle missions, 28 carried out by Columbia I hope they didn't know what happened to them :(( The tigress is here :-D

Can you really talk about mach at the point of entry? There's no air above the atmosphere. :) -- Ignorant people upsets me.

CNN hating a particular religion?? Quite the opposite: where would CNN be if there were no Middle East problems? They'd be forced to run headlines on starvation and dictatorships in Africa, or disasters in the Amazon or the reliance on fossil fuels and it's effect on the Global Climate. Then no one would ever watch them. Hmmm - too much cynicism with my pasta last night :~ cheers, Chris Maunder

I've had CNN on for two hours now. The word terrorism was utterd once in that time and that was to say that it was not suspected. "Any clod can have the facts, but having opinions is an art." Charles McCabe, San Francisco Chronicle

Virtually all of the major news outlets are liberal and slant the presentation with that bias. That goes for CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN (founded by Ted Turner, the ultimate liberal, once married to Hanoi Jane). CNN is so liberal (I stopped watching it more than a year ago) that they referred to the 9-11 idiots as "alleged terrorists". In Israel, I've been told, a very popular bumper sticker says simply, "CNN lies". The print media, led by the New York Times is also liberal. Most USA newspapers simply reprint what the NYT prints. USA Today is a cartoon version of the NYT. The news feeds are the same. Reuters also referes to "alleged terrorists". Don't believe it? Read either or both, "Bias" and "Slander". Mike
