I was watching NBC today. Many "experts" are questioning the scientific purpose behind the space shuttle programs. They say that since all these shuttles travel on the same orbit every time, there is not much to be gained on exploration or data collection. They say that NASA has made it a habit to fly since they have these huttles anyway. The "experts" were not on TV. This was one guy (obviously an NBC reporter) who was "quoting" the "experts". Whatever be the truth in those, where were these guys when these were going up? In any case, is there any place that details the scientific purpose behind each trip, or is that confidential information? My article on a reference-counted smart pointer that supports polymorphic objects and raw pointers

The problem is that they seem to come forward only after a tragedy. Where were these guys, when NASA was sending these shuttles up? I have seen none of these people complain, when everything was good. It is a good enough reason for me to just ignore them. But, as usual, a lot of people are going to just eat it up. :-( My article on a reference-counted smart pointer that supports polymorphic objects and raw pointers
