Really? ...that's not good... I hadn't looked in a while... but I usually keep copies of the versions I use around on servers, in case they disappear.

I should keep more copies instead of links that I can't search thru to well. And create a searchable database. Way to much info to search thru now.

I keep copies for critical pieces of software... only because I've learned my lesson the hard way about not having the software when I needed it.

When I am about to install a new VS version on my primary system, I first build a VM and install the old version plus all the tools, and of course, the projects, associated with the old version. That way I am protected against the two versions not being compatible on the same system, and have a dedicated VM for maintenance.

                I think it's just you; see here[^].

One of these days I'm going to think of a really clever signature.

Thats good to know. I just did a browse around .NET Development http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff361664[^] and it now seems that they are electing to are just listing the framwork version. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.management(v=vs.90)[^] But if you look in the addres bar when you change the .Net version it list the VS version on the end.

Well you are looking at .NET Development, rather than Development Tools and Languages.

Well, used to be when you looked something up they would display the VS version then they started Displaying the .Net Version also. Now it Seems they are just going by the .Net version which would make more sense in a way because you target a framework not usally a VS version. I am talking in general when you look up how to use something. They must be in the middle of restructuring MSDN because it seems to change every day. Now this saved link still has some VS versions But No VS 2008 , but if you look at the end of the address it shows v=vs.90. Other saved pages seemed to have changed to the new styles. That was a Handy link you posted thanks.

I tend not to look at what version of VS is referenced in MSDN as I am usually more interested in the platforms or frameworks it can run on.

It does seem to change often, but I suspect that is just because it is trying to keep up with other technology changes.

I'm just using VS 2008 so I chose the VS 2008 or the .Net 3.5 version of the help pages. I haven't found anything yet where I needed the 4.0 or above yet.Or felt the need to move to VS 2010 or higher. Just installed vs 2012 on a VM and don't care much for the look or feel. But the Size of the vm window makes it even more difficult to navigate thru.
