The subject matter is disgusting, and the inference that anyone would be interested in it is deeply disturbing. So I can see why you'd be upset. But your first sentence was a statement of fact about the email you received, and your second was 'it's unbelievable'. That word can be taken two ways, and while I'd think that most people would get your meaning, it's ambiguous enough that on first scan, someone who has no idea who you are would be, IMO, forgiven for making the wrong assumption. I suspect someone thought 'unbelieveable' meant 'where do I get more'. It's a word that could be taken both ways, and someone who does not know Chris has made the wrong assumption. I don't believe anyone subscribing to CP would be that stupid. It's more likely someone voted 1 as an indication of their opinion of the subject matter rather than the quality of the post. Now that's a more believable interpretation than the one you offered don't you think? :) "The folly of man is that he dreams of what he can never achieve rather than dream of what he can."

Gosh, wasn't I worked up ? Obviously, if Pete Townsend looks at kiddie porn, I *DO* care, and hope he dies in prison, sharing a cell with a big man named Bubba who has kids. I was obviously too upset to be lucid. The site that was spammed to me was not kiddie porn, it was old guys with young girls, claiming to be father and daugher. That is sick enough, but at least all concerned were consenting adults, although it is still disgusting, and likely to lead to some scumbag raping his kid. I hope they all die horribly. Some technological means to stop anonymous email would be welcome IMO. But censorship is not, because where does it end ? Your values ? Mine ? The Popes ? George Bushes ? Another way would be to have a setting in your email client that either stops all html content messages, from people you don't knw maybe (more complicated filter that!) or maybe a switch to display html content as text and not act upon it. It should be fairly obvious what sort of site you were displaying by the urls... Debbie

i got one yesterday that had the subject "You need kiddie porn!". the body of the message had a large picture of a naked girl standing there with all of her stuff on-display. she didn't look older than 13. it's unbelievable. -c

I hope you reported that? It's not worth checking out yourself first (in more ways that one), just send it on over to your local FBI office or whatever system you guys have in place for investigating these sorts of things. :~

I know what you mean, everybody in my house gets some kind of weird, disgusting porn spam everyday. The sickest one that I've gotten is women doing it with farm animals. Why would anybody want to look at that crap. I worry about all the elementary school children that have email addresses and what they might be getting in their inbox. I once came across* a site dedicated to women having penatrative sex with male horses. now how the hell they managed to take what looked like fourteen inches plus in them I really don't know, but I hope it was some trick photography for their future childrearing ability's sake. Talk about fucking the life out of someone! * sorry I couldn't resist writing that. ;P Brad Jennings wrote: I worry about all the elementary school children that have email addresses and what they might be getting in their inbox. Well judging from the type of stuff that got discussed in the playground at my primary school, animal sex is the least of your worries.

I don't get it, I don't believe even a tiny majority would misinterpret the meaning of Chris' original post as the context of the post is, wait for it, "Spamming Scum" as titled by none other but yourself. Anyway, regardless, if you're having a bad night, let's not discuss this any further and hope things get better for you! I certainly don't want to add to your misery. :) And incidentally, in answer to your original post, yes I think it's disgusting. I'm sick to death of stuff appearing in my mailbox and what's worrying is that this sort of thing is what gives the "authorities" the justification to take a big stick to all of us Internet users, the majority of whom, actually object strongly to the sort of cr@p we get in our inbox. Just typical that the majority will suffer for the immoral behaviour of the minority  The only way round it I guess, is to change mail providers when the level of spam gets too much. Personally, I use two accounts, one for only family and friends and the other I use for message boards, form filling, etc. The latter, I only access from a web mail facility so I can easily delete the spam before I have to read text or see images I don't want to. I am so sick of spam, and this morning I got one that started busily loading a HUGE image when I clicked on it, and contained the text 'my dads c**k was so big, I could feel it at the end of my pu**y'. Who the HELL wants to read that ? I feel sick ( and now you do too, sorry about that ) just thinking about it, and wondering what sort of sicko has their day made by having this stuff invade their inbox. I am all for freedom of speech, I abhor the idea that the Internet become a censored world. Why should it ? I don't care what Pete Townsend likes to look at, I just don't go there and it does not affect me. But it seems to me that this invasion of my personal space is what WILL result in attempts to censor/control the web. My kids will have email addresses one day. I don't want to tell them about every last perversion on the earth before then, so they don't learn about it when they check their mail. ( In effect, I suspect I'll run a filter and they will recieve mails only from known sources, the rest I will scan first ). I know the feeling. I've had a few like that and it's sickening. I run iHateSpam under OutlookExpress which helps, but even it doesn't normally spot them. I swear if I ever come across one of the perpetrators of these messages I'll castrate him (assuming it's a guy) without anaesthetic in the most painful way I can think of. I might ask for a few suggestions here first... Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk

Nah, never happens ;) Seriously, though, all the control aspects have failovers to local RTUs (Remote Telemetry Units, like, that really helps, right!) or whatever, so, say, if the comms go dead then it can function locally in isolation or revert to a safe mode. The nitty gritty control logic and management is all handled by system engineers. The stuff I do is all on the central server(s) or the GUI interfaces. Way more fun, IMO. We had a big project in Queensland a few years back on a power station job, and a fair few people went across to live there. Some have never returned... Debbie

One guy had to come back for family resons, and looked so depressed all the time that he really should have stayed there! There was one australian guy who emigrated to live here in the UK, but he was a bit weird. :~ Debbie
