i think it's cheating a little. i tried the earliest actor i could think of: Rudolph Valentino. it gives him a number of 2 because Valentino "appeared" in a 2007 documentary called "Why Be Good? Sexuality and Censorship In early Cinema", along with Diane Lane. but it was just a clip of one of his movies. Valentino died in 1926.

Well, according to IMDB's full cast and credits list, he[^] is given credit for his appearance along with many others. :)

Go to Google and search for "'Actor/Actress name' Bacon Number" See how high of a number you can get. I got a 3. Most are 2 or 1. e.g. "Robert Redford Bacon Number" returns a 2. I should include that this is the degrees of separation for any actor/actress and Kevin Bacon...

If you know what I mean...and I think you do...

And you can get a no match if you use the actor "Will Hays"

Wouldn't it be more fun to figure out what our own bacon numbers are for, say Obama or Romney or someone else really famous?

My degree of separation to the great and good is very low. I've met Liz twice and she has met every big name for the last half century.

I'm a programmer at a chemical destruction facility. The chemicals are gone and we are in closure so things are slowing way down. Makes for long days of not much to do some days. So Bacon research is something I've chosen to do today. :-D

Hey, while you are doing nothing, how about coming up with a way of making bacon from the chemicals that you are usually destroying. Sounds like a win-win after reading this post[^]. :)

I can't remember the book, but [Albert-L%C3%A1szl%C3%B3_Barab%C3%A1si](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert-László Barabási)[^] has written extensively about networks, specifically scale-free networks. In any natural network were the nodes are distributed unevenly, there are always what are called 'super nodes', in an average case around 10% of nodes connect to 90% of all the nodes. In a human network, if you can connect to a super-node you suddenly have a huge network.
