There's Two of Them

That depends - there are identical (one egg split) and non-identical (one in each ovary - very unusual as in most people only one produces an egg each month) Hmm... that turned a little more graphic than expected, but I can't think how else to put it :-O
A pack of geeks, pale and skinny, feeling a bit pumped and macho after a morning of strenuous mouse clicking and dragging, arriving en masse at the gym. Otherwise you have to use metaphors and then I just get confused and think you are talking about flower pollenation and not human reproduction. And, errr, I am not that young that I don't know about living with a woman and her, well, egg production cycle. Once you have lived with a woman you get a good appreciation that it is not just all cold biological waffle. Damned glad I am a male. :)

Megan Forbes wrote: I'm still looking into ways for Brendan to carry our kids! Not quite the same thing, but this article[^] (it's about trans-men who become pregnant during transition) makes fascinating reading. It certainly opened my eyes to how differently men and women feel about pregnancy: Pregnancy was described as a strange experience, several FTMs characterized their feelings towards the unborn child as one of a father. The unborn child was perceived as either negatively a parasite or positively-neutral rather as a guest, who had to be protected, but never as a part of the pregnant person. This can be viewed is a marked difference between feelings towards the fetus which are attributed to normal women by society. Although the extent a woman might view the child as 'part of her body' might vary also in the female population (Kitzinger:149), it is a perspective many medical caregivers take for granted (Schutt: 13). I'd never thought of this before, but for them carrying a child must be just as difficult as not ever being able to do so is for me. Oh well. I am in a broody mood today...
