Since you are certain of the area code and exchange, there are only 10,000 possible numbers (9,999 since you already eliminated one), start dialing. ;P

Very funny. Actually I'm thinking of swapping the 5s and 9s and if that doesn't work changing the order of the numbers. And if that doesn't work I think I'm out of ideas.

Two nights ago I met this really nice girl down in Philadelphia, chatted with her, and got her number (or I thought I did). I should have had her put the number in or given her my number or texted right away to make sure the number was correct but I didn't. So last night I sent her a text so she would know it was me that was calling her and asked her if it was a good time to talk. About 1 am they texted back that I have the wrong number and they don't know anyone by that name. It's possible she gave me a fake number but I kind of doubt it cause 609 is a real New Jersey area code and 651 is a real exchange within that code. So I suspect I got one of the last 4 digits wrong or transposed some numbers. So here's what I know. She has a VERY unusual first name which I know the spelling of cause I asked her, I know her age, and a bunch of miscellaneous details which probably aren't useful for finding her. But I don't know her last name. I tried: 1) Searching her first name on Facebook and Google with no luck. 2) I would use the internet white pages but they require a last name which I don't know. Anyone know a way to search by first name? 3) Tonight I'm thinking I'm going to try switching some of the numbers and see if I reach her. Apparently 5s and 9s are the most commonly confused digits and she has lots of them in her number. So this is a smart group anyone have any other ideas besides the ones I just listed in case the last one doesn't work? Thanks, Mike Additional Details: I met her at a one time event so going back there won't help and we didn't have name tags. I know she works in a boutique but I have no idea which one. Thanks everyone for your replies

Usually when girls give out fake numbers they only change the last 1 or 2 digits. They almost always use their real area code and exchange.

I second that... people aren't really creative enough to come up with a truly random number. Plus if they get asked for the number again, if it's completely random they won't remember what they said the first time.

This is actually what I do nowadays... usually because I get names/numbers wrong a lot. My short term memory fails me too much. X|

When I was young and single, I gave men wrong numbers frequently because I didn't know how to say, "I'm not interested for no obvious reason." I'm not saying this was the case, but most likely, she just wasn't interested. Ironically, one of my fake number victims hunted me down and sent me flowers and wine and it really bothered me to the point I debated calling the police because I feared he might be mentally unstable. Do not do this. Put down the google search. Stop. You are probably a really smart man because you are on this site so I would recommend you spend less time trying to find this person and more time trying to find someone who values and appreciates you because you deserve it! Good luck!

You are so brave to share your story. I commend you for that! Maybe you can find your lady friend on LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. and send her a nice note saying something like, I think i wrote down the wrong number.... if you ever want to connect, here's my contact info. And then let it be. You sound like a really nice guy! Good luck to you.
