What if my bookshelf is a Kindle?

    I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

You know you're an intellectual if your bookcase is larger than your TV!

"Bookcase", singular? I've got six, and they're still overflowing. ;P

That would have defined my mother as an intellectual, but her bookcases were full of trinkets.

It depends on the size not on the quantity ;)

Books in two rows - one behind the other? Funny. For those who read a lot, the problem is always the same. We've got a guestroom called "Library", our living room and our office filled with books. I think today there must be two thousand. And the most were read by both of us.

I lack the moral fibre to count. Let's just say I have 34 metres of shelves, all double parked, and paperback novels get recycled once we have both read them. Fortunately, my weirdly warped mind manages to remember whereabouts any particular volume may be.

I had so many books I decided to keep a catalogue on my computer. I started out writing a simple search program, then modified it to a complex one that would look them up on the internet and download cover images and extra information about the authors, etc. The big job however, was to enter in all the books - I started with the authors and titles but then modified it to enter just the ISBN numbers and have the code search for the rest of the info. It was still a big job though, so I sold all the books, deleted the database and the code and decided to remember the titles to prevent me re-buying a book I had already read. So far so good...

                    - Life in the fast lane is only fun if you live in a country with no speed limits. - Of all the things I have lost, it is my mind that I miss the most. - I vaguely remember having a good memory...

Just make sure you never invite anyone who actually read one of the intellectual books you have on display. ;P
