Please stop using GIFs in articles. They look like crap, especially if it's a screenshot of an XP-application (can you say dither?). And you shouldn't sponsor that crap company Unisys and their nazi licenses. There are other formats that can be used. PNG and JPEG works in most (if not all?) browsers. It's high time to bury GIF. Paul Watson wrote: C: A lot of article authors are not GIF/JPEG/PNG gurus who know what the hell is going on. Well, I just tried to do something about it. Paul Watson wrote: They just take a screenshot and let the programme decide which format outputs the best sized file and they use that. I don't buy the optimization theory. If that was the case, then why are many people uploading garbage with their zips? Debug-binaries, ncb's, aps', opt's, etc. Now that's nothing that will help me or any other reader one bit. I'd rather see garbage removed and nicer pictures. Paul Watson wrote: D: If the screenshot conveys the right info but is a bit funny looking on your gazillion bit depth PC, then relax Why are you telling me to relax all the time? It's not like I'm about to put my fist through the monitor or anything. I just wanted to let my voice to be heard. Hence I used the soap box. -- Ignorant people upsets me.

Not just for the articles, but all website/webpage authors in general, who are not pros but have to do it themselves nevertheless. No, I don't want to know, honest. I'm asking so that others may learn a few things.

And while you're at it, how 'bout just taking screenshots of a (non-maximized) window instead of your entire desktop? Oh, and including an article with the screenshots is also nice. I'd ask for comments in the code too, but prolly shouldn't be greedy...

How on earth are you supposed to pronounce PNG? I say Ping, but is there an official pronounciation? Or is it doomed into two camps like we have with the jif/gif people?

Please stop using GIFs in articles. They look like crap, especially if it's a screenshot of an XP-application (can you say dither?). And you shouldn't sponsor that crap company Unisys and their nazi licenses. There are other formats that can be used. PNG and JPEG works in most (if not all?) browsers. It's high time to bury GIF. No wonder everyone became programmers instead of graphics designers :) Have a look at my article (below) for an example. Adaptive palleted GIF are the best for UI type screenshots. Heck look at all my articles!!! MyDUMeter: a .NET DUMeter clone

Niave maybe, and up for anything, but not definately not wise. ;P
