Paul Watson wrote: A lot of article authors are not GIF/JPEG/PNG gurus who know what the hell is going on. On that note, could you please do an article on it, or explain it a bit? Not just for the articles, but all website/webpage authors in general, who are not pros but have to do it themselves nevertheless. No, I don't want to know, honest. I'm asking so that others may learn a few things.

Please stop using GIFs in articles. They look like crap, especially if it's a screenshot of an XP-application (can you say dither?). And you shouldn't sponsor that crap company Unisys and their nazi licenses. There are other formats that can be used. PNG and JPEG works in most (if not all?) browsers. It's high time to bury GIF. And while you're at it, how 'bout just taking screenshots of a (non-maximized) window instead of your entire desktop? Oh, and including an article with the screenshots is also nice. I'd ask for comments in the code too, but prolly shouldn't be greedy...

How on earth are you supposed to pronounce PNG? I say Ping, but is there an official pronounciation? Or is it doomed into two camps like we have with the jif/gif people?

Niave maybe, and up for anything, but not definately not wise. ;P

No wonder everyone became programmers instead of graphics designers :) Have a look at my article (below) for an example. Adaptive palleted GIF are the best for UI type screenshots. Heck look at all my articles!!! MyDUMeter: a .NET DUMeter clone

Huh. You call that a screenshot? Where's your full color landscape photo wallpaper? Where's your extra-large gradient XP frame controls? Where's your alpha-blended superfluous icons?

Please stop using GIFs in articles. They look like crap, especially if it's a screenshot of an XP-application (can you say dither?). And you shouldn't sponsor that crap company Unisys and their nazi licenses. There are other formats that can be used. PNG and JPEG works in most (if not all?) browsers. It's high time to bury GIF.
