So 128,100 feet means nothing to you, but 39,045 metres gives you an instant grasp of the distance? For me, personally, fucking high is all I really need.

http://mashable.com/2012/10/15/space-jump-youtube-record/[^] Concurrent Youtube Streams: 8 Million Highest jump from a platform: 128,100 feet Longest distance freefall: 119,846 feet Maximum vertical velocity: 833.9 mph or Mach 1.24, makes Baumgartner the first human to break the sound barrier outside of an aircraft. What a legend! Were you one of the 8 Million watching the Youtube live stream? Me the kids and wife were watching. We were bricking it for Felix, as he stepped out onto the platform. And the moment he leant forward to go, I think my heart skipped a few beats :omg:

While the records this guy broke are cool and all but this guy has broken the law in a bunch of countries by base jumbing off of buildings and the like. Should we really be celebrating someone who scoffs at laws in other countries, for a few minutes of cheap thrills?

What a legend! Were you one of the 8 Million watching the Youtube live stream? Me the kids and wife were watching. We were bricking it for Felix, as he stepped out onto the platform. And the moment he leant forward to go, I think my heart skipped a few beats :omg:

There is a qualitative difference between breaking the sound barrier and breaking wind.

Nope - his visor fogged up and he couldn't read his instruments. So he erred on the side of caution and opened his 'chute early, by about 14 seconds. Sensible chap. I'd probably have been tempted to open the chute about 14 seconds after stepping off the platform. Or more likely about 14 seconds before entering the capsule in the first place!

I had read that he is claustrophobic, and thus, more afraid of the capsule then the jump...interesting.

While the records this guy broke are cool and all but this guy has broken the law in a bunch of countries by base jumbing off of buildings and the like. Should we really be celebrating someone who scoffs at laws in other countries, for a few minutes of cheap thrills?

These laws, who are they supposed to protect? Or are they just made by a bunch of people who don't want other people to do things they are too AFRAID of ever attempting?

So 128,100 feet means nothing to you, but 39,045 metres gives you an instant grasp of the distance? For me, personally, fucking high is all I really need.
