Actually, I know of Idaho for another reason than potatoes. Once upon a long time ago, there was a company in Idaho called Cougar Mountain Software, and the sold a complete accounting package for $99. Real accounting, mind you, not the fluffy phony crap that Quicken and Quickbooks use. Double-entry, ledgers and registers and journals, and end-of-period trial balances and all that fun stuff. It was the last truly useful accounting software I've seen at a fair price, and when I called for help, a programmer answered the phone and helped. :-D

To think of it. I actually took a job there and then quit to take one with a much better income. Kind of wish I hadn't. Sounds like it was a great company. A C++ shop as I recall.. :sigh:

I'm glad you had the chance to work for a company that offered a truly useful product at a fair price. We don't see much of that anymore... But when I bought their software, C++ hadn't yet been invented. OOP was still a few years off, in fact, and multitasking was something secretaries did, moving between the coffee pot and the typewriter. :)
