Stop Me, Before I Do Something Stupid!

I'm 90% certain I will be buying a 15" MacBook Pro Retina with max specs (and most every accessory, including a wireless French keyboard) tomorrow. I'm almost certain it's stupid to spend that much money on a computer, but I am compelled to do so anyway. Please, please, PLEASE list reasons I should not do so. For the love of God, give me some reasons to regret this purchase so that I don't go through with it. I beg of you!

You could buy a 4 or 5 new windows laptops, just throwing them away when the hard disk fills up or the screen gets dirty instead of almost purchasing an overpriced toy. :)

The anti-Mac brigade will constantly tell you that Macs suck (despite many never having used one) that Apple are the devil incarnate, that the hardware is overpriced and that you should wait until Microsoft come out with their equivalent which is bound to be much better because, well, it's Microsoft and they never make mistakes,do they? P.S. very jealous

You're beginning to sound like a true believer! ;P Um, you can get more computer with that money if you buy a Wintel PC, ya know... Although, I know the retina display is very nice. You'll be in a straight jacket under iOS and Lion... Networking won't work right... unless you're talking to other Apple devices...

Yes, more of this! Keep it coming!
*Thinks to Self*:
If one of my devices doesn't work, I can just replace it with an Apple device. Yes, that will do nicely.
Damn, it's not working! :((

Spending way too much for what you get, and when you drop it, it gets stolen, or rained upon, then you have just spent way to much money for a brick.

I know it will be a cheap car, but it will get me from a to b with no problem, and I could probably buy a laptop that would get me from a to b with the left over money.

This is true. I should pay extra for any sort of warranty or insurance they offer.
Good point! I'll buy the AppleCare Protection Plan. Whew, dodged that bullet.

Could I buy a laptop for the cost of the AppleCare Protection Plan?

Fanboi Interpolation Engine:
I can only pay this much if I have a good excuse.
I see your point. Because my last laptop cost me $500 and has many issues (powers down randomly, freezes, can't play Blu-rays or run VM's), the money I saved on that purchase justifies paying more for this purchase. Got it!

Depends on your definition of "laptop". If by "laptop" you mean the thing I'm typing this reply on right now, then sure (if you could even call this abomination a laptop). Keep in mind, though, that this MacBook Pro will serve as both my laptop and my primary computer. It's two for the price of 8! Such a good deal!

Depends. Can he drive a truck?

There won't be any money left in your bank account to afford the oversized blender you'll need to go with it?

Nope, plenty of money left over for the Apple Developer Programs, at least until I near the end of the 12-month financing period (after which, I'll have to resort to gargling). Though, that is a good point. I should spend time imagining what I could buy with the $3,000 I'd save if I don't buy a Mac (that being the difference between the Mac and the equivalent PC). On the other hand, that one week in Vegas could have been better spent on buying a Mac. Hmmm.

Do you like the unit? Does it do what you need it to do (and: please check this. For instance, I go insane trying to remote desktop from my Mac to me Windows machine because Ctrl+arrow gets hijacked). The keyboard is a little weird. There's no optical drive. Does it have USB3.0 (I'm losing track - I know the new 13" has 2 of 'em). If you're cool with all of that then get the thing! They are lovely machines. Yes, more expensive, but they are pretty robust and my Macbook has outlived a couple of cheapo windows lappies. I'm still tossing up between a Toshiba z930 and a Macbook Pro 13", but the rumours of new Ultrabooks coming in November have me holding off just a liiiitle longer. You only live once. Be happy.
