There won't be any money left in your bank account to afford the oversized blender you'll need to go with it?

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. Nope, plenty of money left over for the Apple Developer Programs, at least until I near the end of the 12-month financing period (after which, I'll have to resort to gargling). Though, that is a good point. I should spend time imagining what I could buy with the $3,000 I'd save if I don't buy a Mac (that being the difference between the Mac and the equivalent PC). On the other hand, that one week in Vegas could have been better spent on buying a Mac. Hmmm.

I'm 90% certain I will be buying a 15" MacBook Pro Retina with max specs (and most every accessory, including a wireless French keyboard) tomorrow. I'm almost certain it's stupid to spend that much money on a computer, but I am compelled to do so anyway. Please, please, PLEASE list reasons I should not do so. For the love of God, give me some reasons to regret this purchase so that I don't go through with it. I beg of you!

Why, uh, why do you want it? You know chromebooks are $250 if you want an idiot proof computer.

Do you like the unit? Does it do what you need it to do (and: please check this. For instance, I go insane trying to remote desktop from my Mac to me Windows machine because Ctrl+arrow gets hijacked). The keyboard is a little weird. There's no optical drive. Does it have USB3.0 (I'm losing track - I know the new 13" has 2 of 'em). If you're cool with all of that then get the thing! They are lovely machines. Yes, more expensive, but they are pretty robust and my Macbook has outlived a couple of cheapo windows lappies. I'm still tossing up between a Toshiba z930 and a Macbook Pro 13", but the rumours of new Ultrabooks coming in November have me holding off just a liiiitle longer. You only live once. Be happy.

Can they play blu-rays (using an external USB drive), allow you to easily write Mac OS software, be blazing fast (read: SSD, lots of RAM, may cores), run a few virtual machines side by side, and display pr0n (the most important requirement)?

I hope so! Looks like it can run VM's, and I hope it can play blu-rays (I have an external blu-ray drive, but my old laptop isn't powerful enough to display blu-ray movies). Looks like there is some software for this.

I'm going to get the external wireless French keyboard, so it'll be even weirder!

I suspect my 4 USB drives will suffice (and my USB blu-ray burner will pick up the slack).

Looks like it. Even Bluetooth 4.0. Though I'm still having issues with buggy USB 2.0 products (and never had a good working Bluetooth product).

Not yet, and not professionally, but I am always looking to expand my horizons (the company I work for also paid a lot to have an iPhone app made, so who knows if I end up using these skills professionally). My friend did let me borrow his Mac for a few days a while back and I made a small iPhone application. Was challenging/fun, and I'm excited to be able to share fun stuff I make with my friends who own iOS devices. And I have some ideas for things I want to make for myself.

This is fairly simple - if you need/like it and can afford it the buy it, if not then don't. If you are financing then the decision should be based on your situation not on the opinion of a bunch of geeks here on CP. You can be called a troll for dredging up this MS/Apple crap all over again! Personally I would never choose to own an apple product but that is just me!

You'll have to change your CP name to ObjectiveC.IOS

I'm 90% certain I will be buying a 15" MacBook Pro Retina with max specs (and most every accessory, including a wireless French keyboard) tomorrow. I'm almost certain it's stupid to spend that much money on a computer, but I am compelled to do so anyway. Please, please, PLEASE list reasons I should not do so. For the love of God, give me some reasons to regret this purchase so that I don't go through with it. I beg of you!

ON a serious note - try out the kbd first... I really dislike the small bluetooth Mac one - and love my large wired Mac one. The DiNovo Edge looks marvellous, and you can always use whiteout to paint French accents on the letters :)

Plenty of debt, but the nice people at the bank said I don't have to pay it all off at once. Actually, I was going to wait until I pay off my car in January, but there is a conference coming up and I won't get much value from it without a new laptop of some type.

Let's just say I've talked to the Apple "geniuses" and I trust you lot more.
