Is anyone else slightly saddened that the Zune PC client is being deprecated? I thought it could be a bit sluggish at times, but 10,000x better than iTunes, and I absolutely loved the interface.

You are probably the only one!! ;P I admit, I never used it, never installed it, never had a reason to install it. I never liked any of the Windows music player/manager; they all felt bad. The only one that was worthy of using was Winamp (2.something), before it turned into a bloatware.

Although I have a Zune I only rarely use the zune software. I used to play most stuff from Songbird however now I just keep everything on the Zune instead of moving it to the work PC. At home my music streams from my linux based htpc.

It is the best podcasting client, i have ever used. I use it on daily basis. Where did you get the news about depreciation?

The Zune Player, Zune Software and Zune Pass, all were awesome products/services from Microsoft. Which led them on creating Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8. and now they are killing them. I have used Zune pass for 2 years and it was Netflix for Music. They just failed to market it properly, same with Zune Player (much better than iPod). It is disappointing. :(

zune.net redirects here[^], and the Q&A section goes into some detail.

Yeah, hopefully the technology finds a good new home in the new products and doesn't go to live on a farm somewhere upstate.

I originally installed it to sync my WP7, and I absolutely loved it. It was one of the most aesthetically-pleasing products MSFT has ever put forth. I'd keep it maximized on my second monitor for most of the day while working on my primary monitor. Ah, yes, good 'ole WinAmp. It was awesome somewhere around 1999/2000 (maybe even a little before then, I just remember it vividly my freshman year of college); just simple, clean and did what you needed it to do. Then it gave into fear... :(

                    that is very sad.
