Three times this morning I got emails from LinkedIn stating "Good news, Kevin! #insert person here# has accepted your invitation. The problem is, I don't know these people, and I didn't send any invitations. Anyone else seeing this?

If it's not broken, fix it until it is

I'd have thought that anyone who was called #insert person here# would have stood out in your memory. Is he a member of the Hampshire Person Here's?

I get tons of messages like that. Except I don't even have a LinkedIn account. So yeah it sounds pretty phishy.

LinkedIn is currently in fashion among spammers as a preferred address to spoof. The resemblance to real LinkedIn messaging is fairly good, but it isn't too difficult to sort out the phonies from the legitimate messages. It will pass, in time...

I've been getting requests from spammers on the site. I'll flag them for now, then probably quit the site.

That's the very reason I quit LinkedIn years ago!
