Then you should like. He's also in a group with Jason Bonham and Glenn Hughes called Black Country Communion

As something a bit off the wall, I'd recommend this band[^], and not just because their Kirk Hamster look alike guitarist is my jam partner. They've just come off tour with Marillion, and are gaining quite a bit of exposure (they are a popular fixture at ROSFEST in America).

Scorps are awesome, and brilliant live. Helloween have a few good songs, but they are very generic, nowadays, IMO.

Ah, but I go back to Helloween's heyday back in the 80s. They were fantastic back then.

I recently bought a box set of singles reproductions. It has my favourite, 'I want out', and I am hoping it has a DVD with the clip. I had it on VHS, taped from the telly, in the day

I always like Helloween[^]. Last time I saw them, they were in a lineup with Megadeth, Kiss, Maiden and Dave Lee Roth. They held their own with the bigger name bands. Mind you, I always did like the twin guitar Euro bands like the Scorpions.

You don't have to tell me about them - I'm a long, long, long term prog fan - but I always preferred Sylvia from Focus. It's a much more lyrical track, and the time signature changes are stunning. I grew up listening to bands like Focus, ELP, King Crimson (as well as the more standard metal and rock acts). Basically, if there was an electric guitar, some distortion and musical ability, I probably listened to it.

I was a big Helloween fan, saw them in concert twice ( once with Iron Maiden ) Never was a big fan of Blind Guardian tho ... I haven't listen to the whole album, but by sampling it, I feel it's a mix of Rhapsody/Angra/Dream Theater, no ? (And I loved the earlier albums of Angra and Dream Theater)

EUROmetal? :wtf: Well wow - how generic is this? Yes you could put Blind Guardian and Nightwish in kinda the same box (though you should call it something like epic/melodic/opera-metall but there is a lot more going on in europe (just look at the nordics) to just label it EURO ... There is the hole range of metal - from black/death to progressive and aside from a few exceptions every major metal band seems to come from some EU country nowadays ... btw: nightwish is not what it used to be ... just popish rock ... go listen to some Amorphis, Draconian or even Epica :-D
