Ha!  True, I will just have to license them from Apple. :) /ravi

I forsee it dying a swift death and anticipate the return of gradients and rounded corners.  Nothing good happens without gradients and rounded corners. /ravi

I have nothing against the letter u. I suspect that Mike doesn't as well. It goes well in the word "you", for instance, and the capital W is sad that you replaced it.

When you say u I don't know if you're calling me a ewe, a female sheep in which case I would be offended or if you're just txt spking which I dislike more than Windows 8. Windows 8 is like my ex wife, hate is a wasted emotion I just don't care!

Maybe they could use scalloped corners?

I sure hope this boxy, square Microsoft Windows 8 fad look is like disco; goes by quick and everyone is embarrassed to say they were part of it.

I agree. I just clicked on an email from SyncFusion to see a dark grey rectangle a-la W8. Felt like I was reading something on a tombstone. And then there's the "no depth" to things look that is rather unpleasant. The funny thing though is, with a little judicious use of color and font, it can be made to be less distracting to the actual content yet helpful when one is looking for actions to take. Personally, I find CP's use on the home page to be very good. The buttons on the forum, where the "Post Message" is in red and a slightly larger font than "Quote Selected Text", is done in a way that works. But for the most part, what I see elsewhere is so retro I feel like I'm looking at something produced by a 1980's CGA graphics card display on a monochrome monitor capable only of 4 shades of gray. There's is a lot more tolerable than most and I think they've done a good job of it also.

I thought the same hence the disco analogy. I wonder if the "Village People" were hired by Microsoft to oversee UI development? :)

I agree with others that this is a fad, albeit a very annoying one. In look it's far worse than the weird photoshop plug-in UI fad of the mid-1990s, but far more functional.

I actually like Win8. I find it to be quite fast and responsive, even in a VM with 2GB RAM. Windows Server 2012 is the same way, quick and responsive. I use Windows Server 2012 as a personal backup/source control/build/network server, and it is quite good at doing those jobs. It is also rather easy to use (IMO), and the fact that you can switch between Server Core/A Minimal UI/The full GUI without reinstalling makes it even easier to use!

I'm sure it is fast and there is probably a lot about it that would make it desirable but the UI sucks, for desktop anyway,
