Duke Nukem 3D

The original version, not the latest release. But it's free for 48 hours[^] on Gog.com. That's DRM free, no CD required, and no money either - and it works on Win7 (I know, because I bought it at the beginning of the year :sigh: ) So, if a little casual alien bashing is your thing during your lunch break, it's a good (old) game!

Nice! It was very nice game. It was fun turning on every single tap in the bathroom... and those adult contents was just crazy. :-D

Got it, thanks - it's been hundreds of years (or months or weeks or something) since I played this last!

I tried to play it, but the controls seem to be made for a three-armed alien species from outer space. The arrow keys walk, but looking around with them sucks. The mouse looks around and also walks, but it walks in the most useless manner possible, you have to keep moving it in order to keep walking. So you already need two arms just to control your movements, but you also need keys around WASD (just not WASD itself, which doesn't walk). Three arms. And I have yet to find out how to strafe.

Sweet! I already have the game and the Plutonium Pack. It was interesting trying to get it to work in Windows 7 64-bit as there is a patch you must run to get the Plutonium Pack to install. Unfortunately, it requires 16-bit, so I ended up cheating. I had a Windows XP VM on my computer. I installed using that, then copied my Duke 3D folder from the VM to my DOSBox folder. Worked a treat and I'm back to blasting alien scum the way only Duke can. Installed Duke 1 and 2 while I was at it, heh. Flynn

Are those the types of shops that carry GameCubes and Natty Ice? :~

I know. I've just downloaded and installed a copy. I feel some festive fun coming on. All hail to the king.

The nostalgia is palpable. :-D
The United States invariably does the right thing, after having exhausted every other alternative. -Winston Churchill America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between. -Oscar Wilde Wow, even the French showed a little more spine than that before they got their sh*t pushed in.[^] -Colin Mullikin

this game was played in a time long before the legendary WASD... try using the Numeric Keypad... *gasp* ! if I recall correctly, strafing was 1 and 3

I've never faced that problem... mainly because I don't use the keypad. Full desktop keyboards usually have it, and on laptops it should be awkwardly emulated somewhere on the keyboard: http://www.northlite.net/ps/images/keyboard.jpg[^]

Downloaded! I remember playing it in the 90s, playing it now is a bit like going hunting with a spear, but could still be a lot of fun :-D

I usually don't play those kind of games, but I have played this one, and I loved it. Downloaded! Thanks for the info! My 5!! (= 6.6895029134491270575881180540904e+198)

Yay! Someone else sees factorials where most see exclamations. Too bad you're wrong.
5!!
is not the same as(5!)!
. In other words,!!
is a different mathematical operator, not!
twice. Compare 5!, 5!! and (5!)!. For an explanation, have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factorial#Double_factorial[^] Edit: Looks like Google's calculator disagrees, though. -

I actually wrote a couple of levels for that game; it was almost more fun than playing it.
