      Makes sense to me. You might as well ask why VS2010 doesn't run on DOS!

        Any WinRT stuff need Win8 to compiles, that's the sad story! WinRT is great! I guess it's Windows8 only for commercial reason (push to upgrade) What I found more annoying is that WinRT is limited to Metro app!! :(( Hey, I want to do nice C++ / C# interop in desktop app too!!!

        A train station is where the train stops. A bus station is where the bus stops. On my desk, I have a work station.... _________________________________________________________ My programs never have bugs, they just develop random features.

          You can call WinRT API from desktop applications, see in this article[^].

              Its not just Windows 8, you neeed Windows 8 64. Also, if your processor does not support vitualization, as I found my old Dell Inspiron 1920 does not, you can't run the phone emulator.
