Best Old Movies?

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly[^]. It's too old, but still good movie.

I probably wouldn't hate it, but I don't think I'd enjoy it all that much. On the other hand, it did remind me of City of Angels, which is good (though not very old).

I just jumped to the center of the movie (Amazon Prime members can stream it for free) and watched the poisonous deadly snake scene. Went a bit like this:
Guy: What's that?
Trio: A box with a deadly snake.
Guy: Lies! I'm going to figure out how to open it.
Trio: *Spends a couple minutes debating slowly how to convince the guy.*
Humphrey: "He already knows."

I liked it when I was younger, though don't think I'd be too interested in watching it again. Still, it's a classic.

Also, that oxford comma makes it seem as if this movie is about two people (one who is good and the other who is both bad and ugly).

Aaaa! Don't ruin the ending!

Several times I've made an enumeration
enum State { Good , Bad , Ugly }

I always was partial to "Fail Safe" and/or "Dr. Strangelove."

I like a lot of the old ones, but it's hard to beat the original War of the Worlds[^] (The advert is only 15 seconds...). I didn't know it was done in Technicolor - our TV was a black & white model. :-O
Will Rogers never met me.
-
The Wizard of Oz for general fun. The long Kiss Goodnight when I need lots of guns and explosions.
-
The 80s isn't old. Is it? Anyway, lots of the very bestest films were made in the 80s. The Princess Bride for example is the greatest film ever.
Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends. Shed Petition[^]

The Importance Of Being Ernest. The Lady-killers. Carrington Browne of the FO. The Battle Of The Bulge. Bridge Over The River Kwai. The Dam busters. The Great Escape.

Ben-Hur[^] The African Queen[^] Goldfinger[^] (my favorite James Bond) The Ten Commandments[^] (okay, so I like Biblical epics) Alien[^] To Sir, With Love[^], Guess Who's Coming To Dinner[^], and In the Heat of the Night[^] (Sidney Poitier was on a roll in 1967) My Fair Lady[^] and Hello Dolly![^] (I like musicals too) Star Wars[^] Dune? an old movie? I'll have you know that came out the year I graduated from college you young pup!

I really like the original too. I ought to keep an eye out for it in the bargain DVD bins, as I've never seen an unedited version of it (you can tell it's been cut for time when it's shown on TV). Despite my better judgement, I liked the Tom Cruise 're-make' as well. They told a good story, and he played the part well. It's just too bad the aliens didn't kill him off in that one before some moron had the bright idea of having him play Jack Reacher.

The Princess Bride[^] has always been something of a meme here at CP, but I'd never watched it until a couple of months ago. I saw it in the Wal-Mart bargain bin for $5 and bought it on a whim. It was great!

The Wizard of Oz is a class. And The Long Kiss Goodnight looks like a winner!

If Dune were a woman, she'd be a great age to date. Does that make me a videophile? :-\
