A while ago I've researched, and decided against. Price does matter, notable differences in mechanical quality and durability, and pathfinding, number of sensors etc. Even for the good ones, a common theme is massive excitement in the first week, and disappointment after ca. half a year. A cautionary user story: dog shits carpet, roomba does its round, dog shit distributed in the entire apartment. (With my ex-cat, that would have been a real problem because of her barfing habit.)

In a way, yes. She'd always had food processing problems, it got worse with the usual kidney problems, had to put her to sleep.

Umm, I have to dissassemble a friends Roomba when it got in to the cabel corner and ate a SCART lead. So cool for a while just don't expect it to lift anything more than dust, crumbs & the odd peanut, set the limits short.

So was I, the darned thing thought cool only seemed to have enough grunt to pick up dust, then its picked up and ate (well chewed) a SCART lead.....

I got a Roomba about 5-6 years ago. One poster mentioned that you're excited for a week and then meh after 6 months. That pretty much sums it up. We loved it at first, but it was actually more of a hassle to get it working correctly/cleaning it out than to just vacuum once a week.

My wife came home with a Roomba a couple of years ago. Cool little thing when it gets used. Problem is, in my house, I can't remember the last time it got used.

I plan on getting a maid. The robotic cleaners can't do dishes or windows that well and scare my dog.
