Anyone know of any free web email sites that are good that do NOT require you to give up your phone number ? Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo ALL require it now. I don't like it ! :) Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks in advance ! UBX ..

If you can get your hands on a free pay-as-you-go mobile, put $0 of credit on it, stick it under your desk on charge set on silent or turned off. Now you have a valid number you can give to anyone who you don't want to have your number and they can never call you or run up your bill. You can have whichever email provider you want. I hope that works for you. :)

I have a couple of Gmail accounts I use for various things that I don't want near my "main" email address - I have not given up any phone numbers to register those Gmail accounts. Soren Madsen

Gmail does not require anything. It just keeps bugging you about it, if you use the web interface. If you use the POP3/IMAP/whatever api's, they won't bug you.

Agreed. I too created a GMAIL account few days back. No email required. All one needs to do is to press the small skip button when gmail bothers for a phone number.

Actually, I was at a public WIFE area .. I think the reason had something to do with that .. but it REQUIRED a phone number to send a text message to in order to verify that I was a real person .. NIGHTMARE
