For the last week or so I have been setting off to work at my usual time each morning and yet I am arriving at work a little later than previous weeks. Obviously, this means the distance to work must have increased. Therefore the Universe must be getting bigger. QED! ...or does anyone have a different theory?

No surprise here, we already know the Bank of England has lost control of the inflation rate. It's taking you longer to get to work because of QE not QED :-D

Wow! You could tell from my (written) accent that I am British, even though I am living in the USA right now?

We didn't need proof. The Detroit City Council is the reason why it keeps expanding. Too much hot air being expelled and nothing getting done to fix the budget.

Depending on which theory you subscribe to, either the BoE pretty much runs the world or it is effectively just a branch of the US Federal Reserve or both are in fact run by a private club in Switzerland called the BIS. Of course none of these are entirely correct nor entirely wrong either but it matters not. When one sneezes the other catches a cold whichever side of the pond he is on. The way to tell that you're British, not American, is that your concern was about it taking you longer to get to work, not longer to get home and not about what your boss thinks about it taking you longer. Subtle and quite possibly unreliable but it's there.

With me, it's the ever expanding gap between me running out of money and the arrival of the next pay day

                    Doesn't everybody?

"Theory is when you know something, but it doesn't work. Practice is when something works, but you don't know why. Programmers combine theory and practice: Nothing works and they don't know why."

I'm old enough to know how to manage without a satnav. Eventually I'll get one - once I am old enough to need reminding where I am going every five minutes after I set off!

My theory for what it's worth, There is no expansion the slight wear on your tires, has caused the perception of traveling at the same speed when in fact you are traveling somewhat slower then you thought. So all theories about expansion are false. Simple logic really. Frazzle the name say's it all

Due to the tilt of the world's axis, each day you are travelling slightly more up hill than the previous day. Wait until June 12 and you will be going less steeply each day until Xmas. ;)
