Censorship

Censorship? By the community? I'm not sure that counts as censorship. "Inappropriate use of force", maybe. Which message? I'm happy to check it out.

In the "Desperation" thread right below this one.

I had 3 upvotes, and 2 downvotes and my message was removed. May I please ask why? The language was completely appropriate, it was relevant to the development community, there was no personal attack- I jokingly pick on ASP for being a fanboi, it goes back and forth. He's a great member of CP and it's not meanspirited. I don't care about points, but is it automated to remove that quickly?
Perhaps someone marked is as spam or abuse. I only once used this and was also surprised that the message was removed so quickly. Perhaps the hamsters should change it from remove at one spam report to remove are 3 spam reports or something. Oh yeah, and we just don't like you, there now you know, go away and never come back (*gollum*, *gollum*) :-D (that last thing was a joke)

The gollum bit...? Because I agree, we really don't like him (wizardzz)... :-\
The United States invariably does the right thing, after having exhausted every other alternative. -Winston Churchill America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between. -Oscar Wilde Wow, even the French showed a little more spine than that before they got their sh*t pushed in.[^] -Colin Mullikin

What up and down votes? All I see is the ability to flag as spam or abuse.
-
You are right, I meant 3 upvotes and 2 reportings. I was referring to downvoting via reporting, though it appears the reporting didn't actually subtract points.
-
Hmm. I don't see any way to upvote anything. Odd.
Hover over the test of my message, on the left side there will be a green upward pointing triangle and a grey downward triangle. Click the green one to upvote. It defaults to what would be the value of a 5 vote. The downvote is disabled, but you can still report something if it displeases you.

Ah. Thanks. :) (I saw those arrows earlier...couldn't figure out why they didn't let me scroll through the posts. Someone got a litshoad of upvotes, I think.)

I still don't see this fits the dictionary definition of censorship, but regardless, I've reinstated the message.
