Freeware, shareware, trialware, crippleware... I've seen a bunch of different types of software that don't ask for money, ask for donations, or cripple the software in some way until you pay them. I just came across a new one: http://www.soma-zone.com/shop/ You download the software (sorry, all Mac software) and use it. And you pay for it whenever. You must pay for it, but when you pay for it you don't actually get anything (e.g., a product key). They are using the honor system. Quite refreshing to see somebody bold enough to take this approach. I just tried one of the products. When you quit the app, it asks you if you bought it. You just confirm and that's it. :omg:

If stupid, it's the kind of stupid I can respect (and there aren't many of those).

Your respect is one thing and your money another... Did you pay or not?

Seulement, dans certains cas, n'est-ce pas, on n'entend guère que ce qu'on désire entendre et ce qui vous arrange le mieux... [^]

They have my respect and my $5 for helping me figure out that Time Machine is too stupid to recognize moved files and instead wastes massive amounts of file space unnecessarily during delta backups.

I assume this works similar to most honour systems whereby the unscrupulous just tap the tin to make it sound like they put something in.

I was brought up to respect my elders. I don't respect many people nowadays.

Back in the day we called that shareware.
