There is a court case going on in Belgium that receives a lot of media attention. This guy is charged (and he admitted) of killing an elderly lady and afterwards going to a kindergarten and stabbing the little kids. (between a few months to about three years old) Some of them died. This guy is Breivik like, acting crazy and showing little or no remorse. He took a kitchen knife and started stabbing in the face, the throat or wherever he could. I'm not sure what that means to you, but my son is almost three now, I can't imagine how someone can hurt a little kid like that and not showing any remorseful emotion afterwards. I'm really heartbroken with the whole story. I think they should release him... and publish time and place of the release.

A person that kills babies and toddlers should be removed for the sake of society. I'm a father of two. (2½ and 1 year old). I'm ready to help.

A law should be passed , that those found guilty of raping and killing small infants and children , should go under punishment as follows legs and hand cut , and left to survive on own in dessert or hottest places in the country and anyone helping them should be fined and jailed , then only such idiots will learn lesson

I actually don't believe there is a punishment that would threaten these people into not doing it. They don't believe they will get caught. The key lies in catching them, and the threat of getting caught would frighten the large majority of criminals. The rest needs to be locked away for good

ITT: we use emotional "reasoning" to come up with cruel and unusual punishments.

They don't believe they won't get caught, they do not entertain the possibility that they will be caught. The threat of capture or punishment thereafter is irrelevant. People who commit crimes such as what has been discussed do not try hard to conceal their crimes or to evade capture. Or any efforts they do make are improvised in the aftermath, when the reality of what they have done hits home. Rarely does any planning go beyond the act itself. Many will have spent a long time leading up to the crimes either trying not to do something similar or planning how to execute the crime. Both of these are taking place in their own mind, and there can be no external deterrent.

Definitely not. If one of my children would be involved, I would definitely rip that guy into pieces. And this is the very reason why the society has to prevent me for doing this. This guy is insane, and needs cure and maybe a place in a adapted world for him, but nobody can decide about who has to live or die, that's playing God.

Where is the limit ? 8 years old ? 10 ? 12 ? What for a killer of, say, a 25-year-old ? Should he be tortured as well ? or "just" killed ? This is emotional reasoning, and makes no sense.

Quite. Suggestions such as this have nothing to do with punishment or deterrent and are all about revenge. And that rarely makes people feel better, no matter how much they think it will when not actually in such a situation.

Make no sense , so killing of anyone makes sense to you , are you not getting hyper by reading such horrible killing of innocent child me nor you have intelligence and power to change the law but atleast thinking such punishment to such cruel and useless people can create terror in anyone before commiting such henious crime , my friend we are not to discuss law and ofcourse we both are capable of disscussing it for all crimes cause crime as no age and limit , grow up instead of critising any comments use ur life productivley and talk sense

You missed my point completely. I was trying to explain you that there is no way to practically do what you were suggesting. On the other hand, you talk about useless people : I, and noone on the planet, can judge someone so 'useless' that they deserve to be dead. This is about being legitimate, and this is about dignity.
