I applied for an invite, but I'm obviously not cool enough.
Sort of a cross between Lawrence of Arabia and Dilbert.[^]

Pretty invasive permissions on that one! Looks like it would be fun if there were enough portals in your area, but I can't see a way to check that out without installing it, which raises the permissions issue.

Hm.. I don't know if you can access the map at http://www.ingress.com/intel[^] I agree that there are some permission which I don't deem necessary. However a lot of apps do ( On the other hand a lot of apps do (Check out WhatsApp Messenger :doh: ). And if you don't trust Google you probably would have an Android Phone in the first place :laugh: But to play the game you'll need an invite code anyway ;) (as the game is currently in closed beta, while fixing errors, stability issues and adding new portals and so on (you can even send in requests for portals in your area by sending a picture with geotagging info at google))

You have to log in to see the map. I'm not sure that I exactly trust Google, but I distrust them less than the alternatives. ;)

Yeah, I agree I am finding so many things that I never knew existed due to the game a lot of the stuff is within a small area of my work and if I had never used the game I would still not know of them. :omg: :sigh:
