SimCity 3000 or 4?

Because I'm obviously not playing the new garbage. I own 3000 and like it, but I've never played 4. Is it worth a try?

Version 4 was pretty good. I played it a bunch when it first came out. You're not alone on your feelings bout the new game: Thousands Sign Petition Demanding Removal of SimCity DRM[^]

From everything I read, the game is just a complete mess from start to finish.

Wasn't there a SimCity version where you could go into the city level and do missions or something in 3D? Its been a long time but I seem to recall that.

I re-purchased 4 from Steam not too long ago and had a great time - I was, sadly as it turns out, prepping for the current release. Running it in window'd mode seems to work best. As far as the new one goes, it's not that bad IF (and that's a big if) you get to play.

4 is fantastic if you make sure to get the NAM and other user-made mods. The vanilla game isn't great until these are added.
I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

I picked up 4 when it was on sale on Steam during the holiday sale, but I haven't actually gotten around to playing it :-O (this is a story that is often repeated with many games...) I had a lot of fun with the DS one a while back though, and I never got to play 2000, my dad had it at one point but the installation media went missing...the box is still around though.
