Microsoft has organized the TechEd 2013 event in Pune, India and is charging Rs.10000 i.e. approximately 185 USD for attending the event. Although looking at the agenda http://india.msteched.com/Pune/Main#agenda[^] it seems to be more of a marketing campaign to promote the new products from Microsoft than a Technical event. Initially I wanted to attend the event , but later on I came to the conclusion that I would be wasting my time and money over it. Of course this is my own opinion. As per my personal experience and the organisations I worked with , whenever we release a new products, we train the users for free , so that they start using it and may buy it in the near future. But this event seems to be totally opposite. What is your opinion ??

Not visited by users, but journalists and managers. The price is not a problem for that group.

Yes. I think you are right. These two categories of people can get sponsorship from their organisations. Not the programmers like us :)

I too think its idiotic to have a price barrier to ward off people (If that is their intention). WIth 10k per person they are simply ignoring the frontline\programmers who will be the first to adopt their technology. Wonder what the managers and journalists do during those coding sessions.
