Auntie Beeb spoke to a lady this morning who'd been stuck in traffic for something like 12 hours. I then read this on Auntie's website: "Police said snow and ice had caused hazardous conditions and officers were trying to help gritting lorries through to treat roads." Riiiight! Snow and ice had caused hazardous conditions? No shit! The police were trying to help? That sometimes makes things worse. Helping gritting trucks to treat roads? They knew about this incoming weather days ago and they're only treating the roads now. Fortunately for me, neither plonker A or plonker B were on the road this morning. Bad luck on another front, there is no milk left at the office. Someone has to brave the slush and get some from the local M&S outlet. Patiently waiting...

If there is one thing more dangerous than getting between a bear and her cubs it's getting between my wife and her chocolate.

Clear blue skies but still cold as a cold thing here.

Reality is an illusion caused by a lack of alcohol

Last night thunderstorm, lots of lightning, like in summer time. This morning was raining, now just cloudy, about 10 °C.

You cannot grit roads too far in advance. The grit goes away again. My brother-in-law drives a gritting lorry round these parts, they have been gritting all weekend and continuing to do so. We, however, are only getting a light dusting. I think, from what I've read, that the winds are the problem. Grit goes, down, gets blown from whence it landed, snow comes down, gets blown about, drags what remains of the grit with it, more snow comes down, gets blown about, drifts form. Then as soon as somewhere gets blocked by any vehicle for any reason the gritters cannot get down and things completely block up. Sometimes shit just happens.
