My (English) friend went to the match in Cardiff, and was very disappointed with the result. While travelling home yesterday, he stopped off in a pub in Wales for lunch, and a little while later, in walked the Welsh coach, carrying the Six Nations trophy. He had his picture taken holding the trophy, and reckons he was the first English person to touch it since the Welsh picked it up

It was a great result. Funny thing is the final week's games were as unpredictable as the opening week's games. Who'd have thought Italy would have beaten Ireland? The Lions selectors have a difficult job selecting who they want as skipper and who makes the squad. I'm sure it'll be a cracking good tour. My favourite player of the RBS6? Jim Hamilton of Scotland.

As a French, I am both very happy for Wales (OK, actually not, I am only happy that the English took a well deserved rugby lesson), and very disappointed at our poor performance. Winning against Scotland is normal, I wish we had crushed them as to show some pride...

He touched it, eh? He clearly achieved what the national team could not. :)

You won. It'll be interesting to see if Michalak is cited for that behind-the-player swipe to the neck. A pity really, as the French team have some very good players. They remind of Chelsea soccer's team; they have eleven players but they still don't "have" a team.

A converted try does not a convincing victory make. Then again, England cracked in Cardiff and Ireland imploded in Italy. Shyte weekend all round really.

I know the French press have slammed Thierry Dusautoir over the years but he's an excellent open-side flanker. I reckon he's a good skipper. The team deserve a better coach and backroom staff than they have at this time.

At least I got the right language for "wooden spoon" ! And to think that you'd been concerned about that at one point
On our performance up to the 6 Nations, are you surprised? Even up to the final game, we weren't playing as well as we had in the past, and I thought we were going to lose. Fabulous victory - I'd have been happy with a single point win, never mind 27 and the trophy!

Will have to look that one up, I missed it. But he is injured, so he'd probably already been punished for that - the rugby way of justice. :)

Not sure I agree here, because he was often saluted as the best player, even in the defeat.

England didn't crack, they were soundly thrashed, then thrashed some more. They were over-powered, outplayed, and had their shortcomings thoroughly targeted and ruthlessly exposed. Wales haven't played like that for a long, long time and actually displayed some of the ability that most people knew they had. It could have been both a lot closer had Tuilagi not butchered a 3 on 1 overlap and had Farrell made his kicks, and a lot further apart if England hadn't put their bodies on the line for the first forty minutes, like that tap tackle on North.

It's a lady-thing. She occasionally buys the more expensive bars of chocolate. I nicked a square one day. I might have got away with it if I'd nicked a row of two squares but being a bloke, I didn't think of that. When she got home and went for some, she of course noticed. She barked at me "Have you been eating my chocolate." FTFY. If it had been a bowl of porridge I might got away with the crime. But chocolate? Tread carefully.

That was a horribly disappointing way to spend a Saturday afternoon. We (England) were just off the pace in some crucial areas of the field. If Farrell had put those two kicks over then we'd have been 3 points behind, not 9, and we did screw up one or two good chances of a try – but Farrell was off his game (I thought Flood was unlucky not to start and it turns out maybe he should have done) and so were the backs. And then we lost control of the forward battle too in the second half and then it was really all over.

His off-the-ball incident was recorded by one of the overhead cameras, the ones that give you really good overhead shots of scrums and lineouts. It happened way behind the ball so neither the ref or touch judges saw it. At ground level, we saw the punchup that followed. As it was the last match, Scotland might choose not to cite it but the IRB might decide to if they believe it's serious enough. My comments about Thierry Dusautoir and the love-hate relationship the French have with him came from an article I read about him in an English rugby magazine. He is the best open-side flanker around at this time. His record as France's skipper might not be up there with the best but he's a consistent player.
