Yeah, especially when there are grandchildren, so you can get revenge on your children. I also saw the post and can't believe it took them 5 years. I met my current wife, 3 weeks later we were engaged, 3 weeks later married. The only reason it took 3 weeks is so the rest of the family could arrange to come to the celebration. We've been married nearly 18 years now.

You are so right. Spoil them rotten, then send them home. You're faster than me. we took 10 days to decide, and 3 months to get married. However, I don't recommend that for everyone, especially not my kids.

I saw post about upcoming nuptials and started thinking about how long I've been married. Our anniversary was last week and we've been married 33 years. Still rolling with the punches, but I've definitely enjoyed being married a lot more than not. BTW, kids have made it even better (after you get over raising them).

I still don't understand why some people want to be around smaller, more annoying and needy version of themselves. And why they'd want to have children with her also baffles me.

Well, when we decided to get married both of us had teenage and grown kids. When we broke the news to them, they were pretty much in shock. I knew what I was doing, but I wonder how I would have reacted had they done the same thing as their old man.

43 years in a couple of weeks. Grandkids are the reward you get for not strangling your kids. My grandkids are an absolute delight. The other day, G'ma and I visited son, DIL and 2yo g'daughter, who is just starting to speak intelligibly. We took jam donuts. Son warmed them and served coffee. We'd almost finished - I had the last mouthful of donut left. G'daughter got $100 out of her mother's purse, gave it to me and reached for the chunk of donut. Cracked us up big time. Cheers, Peter

Aren't there laws against that sort of thing? Cheers, Peter

The best part is when your grandchild does the same things as, or worse things than, your child. My oldest daughter was our wild child, her daughter--my granddaughter--is her mom times ten. So I spoil her rotten and then send her home to mom.

I think you may have got those two the wrong way around - thinking about how long you've been married AFTER your anniversary can often lead to fewer anniversaries!

You forgot to mention that the only reason you know it was last week and that it had been 33 years is that you were "reminded".

Actually, I had to remind her; does that mean something?:~ One year both of us forgot; I remembered 3 days later.
