Anybody enjoy the band Duran Duran with members of Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor? I have 5 of their albums (yes, I'm a huge fan): - Duran Duran [1981] - Rio [1982] - Seven and The Ragged Tiger [1983] - Astronaut [2004] - Rio (U.S. Album Collector's Edition) [2009] I'm a 16 year old teenager and a lot of people find it astonishing that I like them, I understand why. To me Nick Rhodes the keyboardist makes such unique sounds, especially on "Lonely In Your Nightmare," "Hungry Like The Wolf," "Of Crime and Passion," "Tiger Tiger," and "Taste The Summer." Simon LeBon has such a unique set of words in his music as the vocalist, recall in Hungry Like The Wolf he begins with the terms "Dawn in the city night as a wire, steam in the subway earth is afire." To me these underlined words are pretty cool what he says, also in Lonely In Your Nightmare. Does anybody else like them or how unique they are? :-\

I was listening to a best of album on the way home from work a couple of weeks ago. I thought it sounded incredibly dated and a bit boring. Liked it much more when I was younger.

i had pretty much the same reaction to most of it, last time i listened to their best-of all the way through. but once in a while, i'll drop a couple songs from their first record onto my iPod and let them come up in shuffle. small doses of the early stuff is still OK.

As a "child of the 80's" (graduated from high school in 1987), of course I like Duran Duran.

So there I am, tight white tee shirt, blue jeans, open top Peugeot 206 CC, Fresh haircut and wearing shades. I pull up at my sister's house with "Wild Boys" playing very loudly. She is convinced I am gay!

Rio is a very good album and has aged quite nicely (compared to a lot of early 80's music). And it was release at the height (IMO) of the music video era.

I'm not saying that Cher is anti-Semitic, but not once in Turn Back Time does she suggest stopping Hitler.

Yeah but Rio won't play for England again, will he! (Mind you, after last night's performance I am pretty sure England won't be playing in Rio).

Yes, but the truly awful point of this story was that it was only a couple of years ago! At the time I was an NR(Mid 80's), had all the stuff and loved it. The 80's were truly brilliant if you lived through them, but god-awful if you didn't and are looking back.

Didn't like 'em then, don't like 'em now. Actually, I listened to mostly 60s music in the 80s.

Yes, but the truly awful point of this story was that it was only a couple of years ago! At the time I was an NR(Mid 80's), had all the stuff and loved it. The 80's were truly brilliant if you lived through them, but god-awful if you didn't and are looking back.

Yeah but Rio won't play for England again, will he! (Mind you, after last night's performance I am pretty sure England won't be playing in Rio).
