Anybody enjoy the band Duran Duran with members of Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor? I have 5 of their albums (yes, I'm a huge fan): - Duran Duran [1981] - Rio [1982] - Seven and The Ragged Tiger [1983] - Astronaut [2004] - Rio (U.S. Album Collector's Edition) [2009] I'm a 16 year old teenager and a lot of people find it astonishing that I like them, I understand why. To me Nick Rhodes the keyboardist makes such unique sounds, especially on "Lonely In Your Nightmare," "Hungry Like The Wolf," "Of Crime and Passion," "Tiger Tiger," and "Taste The Summer." Simon LeBon has such a unique set of words in his music as the vocalist, recall in Hungry Like The Wolf he begins with the terms "Dawn in the city night as a wire, steam in the subway earth is afire." To me these underlined words are pretty cool what he says, also in Lonely In Your Nightmare. Does anybody else like them or how unique they are? :-\

Didn't like 'em then, don't like 'em now. Actually, I listened to mostly 60s music in the 80s.

Yes, but the truly awful point of this story was that it was only a couple of years ago! At the time I was an NR(Mid 80's), had all the stuff and loved it. The 80's were truly brilliant if you lived through them, but god-awful if you didn't and are looking back.

Yeah but Rio won't play for England again, will he! (Mind you, after last night's performance I am pretty sure England won't be playing in Rio).

Yeah, listen to them occasionally, but then again, I am 42, and remember well when they were new.... They wrote one of the best James Bond themes, for the movie A View to a Kill.

Don't know - when I was a teenager back in 80's it was "cool" to dislike Duran Duran, just as it is cool to dislike Justin Bieber today. Of course, it is just silly - they were not that bad at all, and neither is Justin B..

I like them well enough. If I hear one of their songs playing on the radio when I'm flipping through the stations I'll stop when I hear them. Last night I heard parts of "Hungry Like the Wolf" two different times. :) I don't have any of their albums, however. Years ago I saw them live. They were new on the music scene, probably only their first single released. It was part of large outdoor show with several other acts. They were added as a replacement for another group that apparently canceled. (That was a band by the name of Talk Talk. I think the promoters thought they could fool the ticket buyers by putting in another group with a repeated word in its name. ) The show started with a local band that had made a fairly big name for themselves. Next up was the Fab Five as they were later called. Then the act that I went to see, Elvis Costello and the Attractions. The headliner was Blondie. Ah the memories....

Didn't like 'em then, don't like 'em now. Actually, I listened to mostly 60s music in the 80s.

Yes, but unique? Not necessarily - these are also some of my favorite musicians / groups that I think have many similar qualities, and I'm sure there are more as well. Dire Straits Chris Rea Peter Gabriel Jethro Tull Alan Parson's Project The Fixx Marc
