So I have a blurred spot in the center of my vision. Kinda like looking through glass with a water drop on it. I been reading and it is some type of macular thing looks like. I have been putting it off but its irritating now, so I'm going for an exam. I was thinking that getting the correct prescription would fix it after everything relaxes.j Stupid eyeball.

I echo S Houghtelin - you need to get to an doctor asap, the worst this could be is a detached retina. Macular degeneration happens in people over a certain age so it may not be that in your case.

Don't fuck with your sight, buddy. A wanker manager I worked with suffered a detached retina when he was overseas on business. He started getting "floaters" in his eye when he was in the US but put it off getting seen to until he got back to the UK. They managed to save the sight in his eye but he has some permanent damage. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Get it seen to...

Bad move, go now and don't take "The doctor is all booked for today" from the receptionist, if the opthamologist is worth their salt they will see you.

That depends on your doctor. One of the GPs at the practice I go to is a class-A c***. Whenever I need to see one I ask for someone else but him. Fortunately, a district hospital not far from where I live has an excellent A&E.

It's possibly a vitreous floater. As you age, the vitreous humor (the gel-like substance that fills the eye) loses some of its fluid qualities. The resulting inflexibilities throw shadows on your retina, which are the artifacts you see floating in your vision. I was diagnosed with these about a month ago. It really, really sucks because there isn't any reputable treatment for the condition. The only good news, according to my opthalmologist, is that my brain will learn to largely ignore them over time.

I guess I'm lucky then. A looooong time ago, on my way into work, I developed a good sized, black spot in the center of one of my eyes' vision, it started to dissipate in a few minutes, so I thought how bad could that be?. My mother happened to call shortly thereafter, and in passing, I mentioned this episode to her. As luck would have it, later that day she had an appointment with her opthamologist. During her appoinment, she mentioned in passing what I had experienced earlier that day. He immediately stopped her examination, and had a nurse call me at work, I was in a meeting at the time, the nurse would not get off the phone until I answered. I was pulled me out of the meeting, and the nurse insisted I come in right then. I said I'm too busy and I would make an appointment, 2 minutes later the doctor calls and says the same thing, OK at this point I'm starting to get worried. I go in, the problem is diagnosed and I start treatment that same day. I will see the effects of that episode as long as I live, but it could have been much, much worse. Note that this was a veteran physician with a large practice, whom I had never seen. To this day I feel very fortunate, for the series of events that ended with me getting prompt treatment. I have known a couple of people over the years that have not been so lucky.

I too was going to point out the fighter aspect. I hate to say it, but this could put a stop to organized fighting. Hey we all have the occasional Friday night. :)

Kinda makes you wonder what else your brain ignores... :suss:

Echoing others here - get it checked right away. Especially if you have a family history of diabetes. Could be a number of things. Mine was macular retinapothy, or bleeding in the back of my eyes. I ended up with a six month regimine of Avastin shots in my eyes along (yes, a needle in my eye -- ugh!) with laser surgery. I'm lucky. My vision is better than it was, but no where as good as it used to be. Don't mess with your vision. Flynn Edit to fix spelling
