Clever People[^] constantly amaze me. A one month trip to Mars? It used to take longer than that to get to Australia!

Will you believe they got there though, or will you think it was filmed in the Mojave with a red filter on the lens?

Doesn't take 30 days to drive to Arizona with a camera, does it? Edit: yeah, what Pete said. F5, F5, F5.

Wow. I'm really looking forward to seeing what can be achieved with the upcoming phase of space exploration. I see this as a modern equivalent to the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. You're going to have a lot of very hardcore people going off on expeditions not knowing when they will be back, if at all.

Australia is much harder to reach, because you have to take measures to avoid falling off the earth.

Given that the record for power produced by a fusion reactor is 16 megawatts (not enough for the bus home from work), and that the reactor that produced it takes up a large chunk of Oxford, you'll forgive me for being somewhat dubious about the guy's extravagant claims.

But if you fall off just right, you'll end up in orbit around Mars. That's the plan, anyway: -- 29 days to Australia. -- Fall off. -- 1 day to land on Mars.

Enough to buy him a nice house and car, though. As soon as he's got those, he'll declare that more research is needed.

I am working on something that will allow people to make the trip in minutes!

                                    What me worry?

As the owner of a Mark II Type 40 Time Travel Unit (Nice shade of blue, 11 careful owners) I can get there 10 mins before I leave.

Don't beleive it until you see the engine operatonal. Remember when people were convinced practical electric cars were just around the corner. This was even back in the 60's. At least there are some now, but they do not meet the requirements of most people.
