He was the best dog we've ever had (the 7 others weren't slouches either, but Rambo was simply the best). He came in as a month old puppy, and lived the rest of his life with us. And that would be a good 16 years. He was an incredibly loyal, very intelligent, and a well mannered dog. He lived a happy life, and was completely healthy almost until the last 3 days of his life. He looked into my brother's eyes before he left, and I didn't have the courage to see his dead body, so I just went somewhere away for them to message me that it's all done. I then learnt that my brother left too, and my sister in law took care of it all with the help of a vet. She is one strong woman. He's been given a funeral, and I hope he shall rest in peace forever. I hope they give him good showers in heaven to care for his black shiny hair. I'm just feeling lost right now, but I know I'll be fine. :(

It's terrible to lose a pet, but at least your family didn't let him suffer. :rose:

I feel your pain. I lost my dog 'Black' (killed by a car) when I was a child. I hope you'll recover soon.

At least his namesake is well, although now 66, and still making movies. Maybe he will make another one.

I understand how you feel - we had to put our dog Belle down about 6 weeks ago. It was awful. She was 8 weeks old when we rescued her from an Amish puppy mill. She would have been 15 in 4 days. It just got to the point where her arthritis was so bad she couldn't sit down or stand up without being in pain. The best thing we did was to start doing dog transports again - basically helping get a dog from a kill shelter to a rescue group. Funny thing though, the very first one we did, was another Norwegian Elkhound like Belle. We ended up adopting her last weekend. She is an older dog who was abused, but we will give her a lot of love and a good home for whatever time she has left. Anyway, keep your head up, and trust me, it will get better with time.
