4th year? What kind of project is it supposed to be? Theoretical or practical? Here in Sweden we do a practical project in the third year - a test for the bachelors degree basically. During the fourth year we do more of a dissertation for the masters degree. What's the level of your project? Bachelors or Masters? If it's the latter, you'll probably have to add some theory into the project. Perhaps present a new and exciting idea which you'll also implement as a proof of concept? Expect to read a lot of papers and write a lot. You may end up having no time over for a full implementation. :| If it's a bachelors project, I recommend you to fire up VS.NET, hook up some web services with blue tooth devices through wifi-gateways using firewalls and optionally some peer to peer communication. Just do the buzzword bingo and you'll be fine. (Just don't forget to write the report too. I think it's safe to assume that a setup.exe is usually not enough for a bachelors project, even if I don't know your schools policy on bachelor projects. :)) -- Yeeeeehaaaaawwwwd!

During the fourth year we do more of a dissertation for the masters degree. It's Applied Computing so it's a fairly big practical... I've been talking to some foreigners about their courses [Mainly Spanish and Germans] and computer courses there seem to be more theoretical... doing a fairly large project in 3rd year and a thesis/dissertation in 4th... There are plenty of Computing course in Ireland like that [Normally Computer Science courses] but the one Stephen is on about [the same course that I'm in] is Applied Computing so it's akin to a Computer Engineering course... a lot lot more practical hands-on [programming/electronics etc] work than most computer courses and a little less on the whole thesis/dissertation side of things. In 4th year we have to do a very large project.... most of the marks actually go for documenting the whole design-to-implementation phase and the methods you use and so on and the implementation only counts for about 30%. Regards, Brian Dela :-)

I certainly hope not. I'll, of course, be voting for anyone other than him, and encouraging everyone I see to do the same. How are other (US) codeproject members going to vote? evilpen dot net
