After renounced cricket for some time(after pathetic defeat of Indian team), my interest in rejuvenated by seeing the NZ vs SA match. So far it looks like NZ is on top. An SA defeat will almost mean that they are ruled out for super six.

As Kant said, damn the rain! The kiwi's currently have a lower run rate than ours, and yet, if they can't go back onto the field, they will win :((

Damn...The rain.. so we're heading into over reduction territory very shortly, and this means the Duckworth/Lewis method is introduced, and given New Zealand's strong position resource-wise right now (notably the wickets lost after 30.3 overs, but also the very healthy run rate) means any adjustment will favour them, and the longer the delay, the relatively easier the chase should become, and if it's curtailed completely, New Zealand will be ruled winners - they are currently 41 runs ahead of the par value to give an idea of what sort of targets will be chased in a reduced overs situation, New Zealand would need 273 in a 45-over chase (that's 91 off the remaining 14.3 overs) 235 in a 40-over chase (that's 52 off the remaining 9.3 overs), 189 in a 35- over chase (that's 7 off the remaning 4.3 overs), and if it's reduced to a 34-over game or less, New Zealand will have already passed the required target and would be ruled winners - so you can see how quickly things change in favour of the chasing side the more time is lost and each over that is taken away from the match Follow live World Cup Cricket scores here[^]

All credit goes to NZ for maintaining a very healthy run-rate. This may well become the greatest upset of the WC. I have now come to the conclusion that teams which will qualify for super-six are From Pool B 1. SL 2. WI 3. NZ From Pool A 1. Aus 2. Zim 3. Pak Sorry Indian team but it doesnot look that you have any remote chance.

Sitting on the edge of my seat here... God, I will loose my nut if the Kiwis win this based on the F**kwit/Loosewith system. This is looking to be a stunner of a match, a real nail biter. So I hope we get to see those last overs.

Play starting in 10 minutes! Time to rush off home. 44 in 8.3 overs?!? Upset Time! Doesn't the DW/L system deduct wickets?? ("We hereby forbid Nathan Astle to resume batting.")

Why is Zim such a huge favourite over Pakistan and India? I think that Pakistan with Wasim Akram, Waqar, Inzamam etc. are capable of beating Zimbabwe. It looks quite wide open to me. My article on a reference-counted smart pointer that supports polymorphic objects and raw pointers
