I recently got one of the new IPaq 5450's http://www.compaq.co.uk/products/ipaq/pocketpc/h5400/index.html[^] Its called a 5455 in the US so they can track them apparently....anyway... I've got to say its a funcky little beast. Just ordered a 512MB secude digital card to go with it as well. Yes you heard me 512MB!!!!! So I'm drooling. Its got built in Blue tooth, 802.11B WiFi, and wait for it...a biometric finger print scanner to stop people you don't want form getting in. This is a seriously cool toy. This is good so I can store among other things all the passwords for the different systems at work on it, of which I have about 40 (roll on single sign on :) ). What I wanted to know was does anyone here use AvantGo. Got to say it such a cool service. Now I've got the latest news where ever I go, by quicly syncing the news with AvantGo ( http://my.avantgo.com/[^] ) service over the WiFi I have at home in the morning. I'm telling you everyone should have one of these lovely beasties. ;) Quote from a clever bloke : "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein

Looks good. Thanks. By the way, you asked me if I went to South Africa last year the other day. How come? Quote from a clever bloke : "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein

On the flip side, I won mine in contest (last summer, from Microsoft (who says they aren't good for anything! :-D )), so I can't exactly be too picky, eh? ;P But with the e330 and e350 (?) out, I wish the 310 had more RAM (currently 32) and at least 802.11b built-in. I'm trying to convince myself I can afford the money to buy the 512 (hell, even a 256!) SD card to go with it. So far, rent, food, and tuition have won out. :(( I prefer to wear gloves when using it, but that's merely a matter of personal hygiene [Roger Wright on VB] Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. Kind of burnt in my mind, and in a way felt a bit responsible for putting you off the people as I'm one of them. ho hum. :) Quote from a clever bloke : "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein

Well it was a treat for what has been a crappy 12 months. I always thought that these things were sad, but the 802.11b really makes it. Not got the 512MB yet, but I've got plenty of uses for it lined up. The thing is that syncing though the wireless connection straigh to the net, blows away syncing over USB. Its good as well as in London, more and more places have WiFi, like coffee shops and the like for they customers to use freely. Just ordered one, however, it is the model below yours, doesn't have the fingerprint scanner. I used AvanGo with my old Palm and it was great, like you said. You can even sync it w/out wireless internet via desktop PC. I haven't received mine yet, anxious as hell.

A PDA is about as useless as a gadget can get. (Cel phones that allow you to play games in color and read email are actually the most useless, but don't get me started). We're gonna be writing software for PockmarkedPC 2000.
