If you eat chocolate, you are already eating a large number of insects. Also (technically) lobster, shrimp/prawns, crawfish/crayfish/crawdads/mudbugs, crab... I've also involuntarily eaten the odd spider, fly, mosquito, and ant...

I don't think 8 pieces of insects[^] constitutes a 'large number'... although with the quantity of chocolate I eat, I could be wrong..!

So the UN is advising us to eat insects[^] to alleviate world hunger. Fair enough. (Although I'm not sure how effective the idea is really.) I'm just surprised by the number of narrow minded, patronizing bigots that are commenting on the article (see bottom of the page). :~

Well, on the plus side, since they lack a skeleton, bugs will be much easier to filet than buffaloes. I'm thinking that they won't need much tenderizing either...

So the UN is advising us to eat insects[^] to alleviate world hunger. Fair enough. (Although I'm not sure how effective the idea is really.) I'm just surprised by the number of narrow minded, patronizing bigots that are commenting on the article (see bottom of the page). :~
Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike... me...
I'm not so much worried about eating bugs per se; I'm a tad more apprehensive about what the bugs have eaten.

Um. You do know where manure comes from, right? And what vegetables grow in? So think about it: not only has every drop of water you drink already been through probably 6 sets of human kidneys allready, but the animals we eat, eat the plants that grow in manure...

Ants alone hold 15..20% of the terrestrial biomass, and I figure they are easy to farm[^].
