I've been sat on a plane at Manchester airport for around 40 minutes now, watching Bodger and Badger go up and down in a little crane and fiddling away with the wing. They've opened boxes, looked at sheets of paper, sent for a bigger hammer and a new roll of duct tape. If this plane ever does get off the ground I don't fancy its chances of stopping there.

Well I hope you're still afloat or whatever the correct expression is. You reminded me of an early morning flight out of Schipol once when we were told we were waiting for the deicing crew who were delayed by some technical problem. About 40 mins later after absolutely no deicing had taken place at all, at least on my side of the plane, we were told it was all done now and we were taking off. I guess it had simply warmed up enough to no longer be an issue but it was a little worrying. That was the same flight where they either put something in the food or the air supply and knocked us all out for most of the flight. I'm still annoyed about that. :^)

Have you scanned yourself for an RFID tag? Or perhaps something more sinister, a government plot, alien abduction or ad targeting? :)

It was broke, so I fixed it.

They've come down, but one of them just held something up and im sure he said shouldn't this bit be on there somewhere.

Did they have any parts left over? Probably not a good thing.

        What me worry?

 No although I've been through plenty of scanners any RFID tag would have triggered since then. I don't know what they were up to, just the convenience of the crew I guess not to have people keeping them on the move for 8 hours. The reasons I'm certain they did something at all are these. Firstly I was sat next to a particularly lovely and interesting young lady who I'd met in the departure lounge at Schipol and we were getting on very well. There's no way I would have passed up the opportunity to get to know her better and decided to sleep instead. Secondly I woke up with no memory of having gone to sleep. That may sound odd but my brain works like that. I always wake with the knowledge that I went to sleep or memory of going to sleep but not that day. I woke up suddenly, disoriented and found that nearly everyone around me was still asleep. I was one of the first to wake and so saw the that it wasn't just me that had passed out but nearly everybody else in sight. Most of them woke within 5 to 10 minutes of me waking although sadly not the youg lady I was sitting with who slept on another half hour until we had nearly reached our destination. I was out for approx 6 hours which is all wrong as I sleep in 4 hour cycles and across the middle of the day which is not me either. All in all it was highly suspicious but hardly something I could make a compaint about. "Hey you why did you knock me out for 6 hours?" "It's called sleep sir, are you sure your Doctor said you could take this flight?"

I don't have any problem with female pilots, and fixing the light is probably a good idea. Last thing I'd want is other planes to assume it was a motorcycle.

Ha years ago I was flying from Boston to Las Vegas via Atlanta and Dallas Fort Worth. The DFW stop was to refuel, I guess, as we were not allowed off the plane. It was taking quite a long time and then the stewardesses started coming up the aisle with free drinks ... two hours later the pilot comes on the intercom and says that when the plane landed a piece dropped off and they were in the process of reattaching it. ... and hour later the pilot comes back on the intercom and states that when the part that fell off actually broke when it hit the runway and they were flying in a replacement part (from Atlanta the airport we just left). We all got vouchers for the DFW airport food court and 5 hours later we were on our way! :wtf:

And we've got a female pilot. I think they're trying to fix a light on the end of the wing. We were an hour and a half late before this. Very bored and very, very hot and sweaty.
