I've mostly used Amazon as it's all MP3 and not WMA or Apple's offering. That said, in view of their tax dodging I'm going to be looking around before using them in future. Perhaps Google Play, but then they're no better. HMV used to have downloads too but I believe they're history now.

      Regards, Rob Philpott.

Was that a single sentence? I had to read it three times to try and decern the point. It's not business, It's tax avoidance. Business is good for both parties.

And Tax Avoidance is legal and good for both the Business and the Accountant. If governments are run by people too stupid to create simple tax regimes the what do they expect?

Does the same apply to badly implemented benefits systems? Is is the duty of people to exploit poorly worded benefits arrangements and to make use of benefits advisory services? Just asking because to me the net effect is the same - there's some 'fair' level of contribution / need which should be met, and yet there are individuals or companies that will use every dodge or loophole in the book to maximise their take and minimise their input, all ultimately at the everyday taxpayer's expense (those that have no option to pay via PAYE). I don't either, I just ignore them. If everyone blocks and/or ignores ads, though, the whole concept of free online content funded by advertising will die. Do we really want to have to pay £5 a month for Computer Monthly again?

Ads are clicked - but that's really just underpaid Chinese workers clicking ads in a dark basement in order to create ad revenue.

I wouldn't mind paying for stuff IF they fix the problem now that it's either hard or dangerous to pay for stuff online. You can use a credit card, but then you have to keep a close watch on what gets credited or else someone will rob you but you only find out the next month and your credit card company will tell you to elephant off because you're too late in reporting it. Or you can, if you're really very lucky because almost no online place let's you do it, do a direct bank transfer, but it'll be complicated, take a week, get lost in the mail, and you've made a mistake in the excessively long number you had to write in the comments field. And of course they can still screw you over, but only for the amount you sent. Or for an extra fee, you can pay for the item in cash when the postman delivers it. It's easy and you can't get screwed, but it costs extra and only works for physical items. Paypal sucks and is more of a problem than a solution. No one accepts bitcoins, and they're impossible to obtain anyway. So paying for anything online is impossible unacceptably hard/dangerous.

It'll take about 5 seconds of your time. Or you could just close your eyes every time you don't want to see an advert.

"It's not business, It's tax avoidance. Business is good for both parties."

regardless of how you feel about tax laws Amazon offers other companies a great service by putting their names in the publics eye and also offers a great service by providing great services. If for some reason you hadn't been impressed with the the services that you were receiving you would have stopped using the service long ago. That being said you can't honestly try to argue that the services they offer aren't good for both parties but simply that you personally don't like the tax avoidance issues. As for myself I say who gives a fucc give me my bargain.
