Down-voting posts shouldn't be anonymous

My post, at The Culture of VB versus the Culture of C#[^], got downvoted ... I wonder who could possibly downvote this??? I think that just as you are required to with articles, downvoting posts should require the down-voter to leave a comment saying why. I think that if you don't want to rate something well you should have to put your name against it. I have no problem telling people why I vote against something and why; I believe that it also gives people a chance to improve things and get their vote changed. Regards, Kris

This question has been raised, and rejected, many times. Don't get your knickers in a twist over downvotes. There will always be a bit of pond life in a forum like this that goes round downvoting for no reason: ignore them, they do you no harm.
Use the best guess

When posting on controversial topics, it's best to use a temporary account - that way you can participate in the discussion without risking your main account getting attacked (which may not look good if a prospective employer looks at your profile and notices so many down-voted comments). Or just avoid participating in that sort of discussion.

I thought sock-puppetry was evil. yours, Bill
“Humans are amphibians: half spirit, half animal; as spirits they belong to the eternal world; as animals they inhabit time. While their spirit can be directed to an eternal object, their bodies, passions, and imagination are in continual change, for to be in time, means to change. Their nearest approach to constancy is undulation: repeated return to a level from which they repeatedly fall back, a series of troughs and peaks.” C.S. Lewis
